Commitment

I have three boys and all are gifted. They are very smart and intelligent. One morning my second son, Jonathan (5) wanted to draw a picture which he was not able to do last night because it was late.

It was right on time when my wife was out the door to take him to his school. He was also literally ready for his school. He got his backpack on, gave me a hug and said see you. He was following my wife to the door. He then suddenly said, “Oh, I forgot to draw a picture that I wanted to do last night. I want to do it now.” While he was talking, he was already walking back to the living room where he left his drawing paper and crayon last night. My wife called him, “Jonathan, we got to go now, Otherwise you are going to be late for your school. You can draw your picture after school. So, let’s go.” “No, I want to draw it now. I will be very quick,” responded Jonathan. “I understand that you will be quick. But we really need to go now, Jonathan,” said my wife. “OK, mom, just a minute,” said Jonathan. “OK, I will be in the car. Hurry,” said my wife. “I am done,” said Jonathan delightfully. “Daddy, this is me and that is mom. She is taking me to my school in her car. See you,” said Jonathan while running toward the door.

It was about three minutes. He had a heartfelt passion for his picture. He could not let it wait. He would rather late for his school than postpone his heartfelt desire. Jonathan, my son put his heart into it and he accomplished what he had in his heart. Not only that but he also achieved his success and earned the joy to enjoy for the day. It was only about three minutes. Yes, it was.
